From January 2008 to December 2025 she served as Full Professor and Earth Sciences Programme Coordinator at Universidad EAFIT. Her responsibilities included undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervision of applied research and advanced academic activities, and coordination of interdisciplinary educational initiatives.

She contributed to outcomes-based curricula and applied learning, as well as engagement between academia, industry, government and local communities. Her teaching experience covers sustainable resource management, the energy transition, non-conventional renewable energy, geosciences and territorial sustainability.

Within EAFIT programmes she led and advised initiatives on bio-geo-cultural landscapes, natural resource management and environmental governance. These brought together agroforestry, biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation and renewable energy, supported by technical teams and capacity-building activities.

From August 2023 to August 2024 she conducted postdoctoral research through the Minciencias Scientific Diplomacy and Environmental Governance programme, working in Berlin and Colombia. She studied sustainability transitions, climate governance, geodiversity and territorial innovation, and supported cooperation between institutions in Latin America and Europe.

Understanding resources means understanding territories

Resource management and the energy transition require connecting technical evidence, environmental conditions and people’s participation.

  • Resources and decisions

How can alternatives be compared across energy, biodiversity and land use?

  • Governance

Which stakeholders need to participate and how can their perspectives be included?

  • Applied research

How can a territorial need become a useful research question?

  • Cooperation

How can institutions and disciplines work together on a shared environmental challenge?
